Traumatic life experiences, whether physical or emotional, affects the mind, body and soul of a person and this can make a person feel “stuck” in their life. Trauma is a contributing factor in the development of physical distress on the body and mental health problems in healthcare today.

When a person understands how trauma affects their body, their thoughts and beliefs, their feelings and emotions and their behavior, a person can begin to work on the healing process and become “unstuck”. A person can mend the inner Parts of themselves that have been hurt and wounded and work on moving forward in their life, careers, and relationships and gain more clarity and purpose for their life free from guilt and shame.

My Approach

When you work with me, you embark on a transformative journey to change your mindset and embrace the Power of Self. My approach is designed to help you eliminate negative self-talk and behaviors that hold you back. Together, we will delve into understanding your defense mechanisms and thinking errors, and learn to build your self-esteem and confidence through the creation of healthy boundaries.

Our work together involves:

1. Eliminating Negative Self-Talk and Behaviors: This involves recognizing and changing harmful thought patterns and behaviors that can undermine self-worth and confidence. Negative self-talk refers to the internal dialogue that criticizes or diminishes oneself. The goal is to replace these negative thoughts with more constructive and positive ones, leading to healthier behaviors and attitudes.

2. Defense Mechanisms and Thinking Errors: This point addresses the psychological strategies people use to cope with stress and anxiety. Defense mechanisms can include denial, repression, or projection, which may shield individuals from uncomfortable feelings but can also hinder personal growth. Thinking errors, or cognitive distortions, are irrational thought patterns that can lead to misconceptions and emotional distress. By identifying and understanding these mechanisms, individuals can learn to manage their responses to challenging situations more effectively.

3. Self Esteem and Confidence: This aspect focuses on building a positive self-image and enhancing confidence. Self-esteem refers to how one values oneself, while confidence is the belief in one’s abilities. Strategies may include setting achievable goals, practicing self-compassion, and celebrating successes. Improving self-esteem and confidence can lead to a more fulfilling and empowered life.

This is the essence of the Power of Self!
